Fihariana begins the year with the signing of two agreements made this Thursday, January 9, 2020. These agreements signed with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (MAEP) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Crafts (MICA) officially mark the strengthening of the collaboration between these 2 institutions. These agreements are obviously at the service of beneficiaries and project leaders who will benefit from technical support in the professionalization and modernization of farming, breeding, fishing, the expansion of SMIs, trade and crafts, but also quality infrastructure with the revitalization of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in all regions.
The Fihariana program received more than 117,000 applications from all regions of the island in 2019,. After processing the files, participation rates were able to be determined by region.
Third place was held by the Diana region, with a participation rate of 9.75%. Second place, was held by the Atsimo Andrefana region, with a participation rate of 9.88%. The Sofia region held first place with a high participation rate of 11.09%.
Each region of Madagascar has niche products such as vanilla, coffee, aromatic plants, essential oils, cocoa, lychee, which represent an important contribution to the Malagasy economy. Improving the yield, grading, and processing conditions of these products is an advantage for the economic development of the neighboring community, the region, and the country by contributing significantly to job creation and improving the quality and quantity of our raw materials to an international standard. It is in this sense that Fihariana supports project leaders and entrepreneurs. A correct exploitation of this potential would be a big asset in the economic growth of the country.
In the Madagascar Emergence Plan aligned with Velirano N ° 7, which was initiated by HE President of the Republic Andry Rajoelina, regional industrialization has been defined as a pillar of emergence. Providing quality raw materials to industries is therefore one of the priorities to enable them to produce to international standards. With this in mind, Fihariana identifies the weak links in the value chains around these industries in order to strengthen their capacities, so that they provide the required quality and quantity. Fihariana offers producers and farmers financing and training for a return that meets the standards of the national, regional, and international markets.
The program supports producers working in the sectors of fruits and vegetables, agriculture and animal feed, corn, and milk . This collaboration allows producers and growers to benefit from support in terms of entrepreneurship and agricultural techniques. The full support offered by Fihariana is also through facilitating access to outlets for producers. This is how several collaborations have been developed with companies such as Socolait, Lecofruit, BOVIMA, Agrival, Imperial Tobacco, LFL, MPE, and Sahanala.

The files processed in 2019 by the Fihariana program enabled the breakdown below to be released. Since its launch in February 2019, the Fihariana program has supported entrepreneurs and project leaders from all sector of activity. 48.29% of the projects received by Fihariana come from the agricultural sector, a very promising sector in Madagascar which employs 80% of the active population and constitutes an essential component of the Malagasy economy by contributing up to 30% to the GDP. With 12.83%, livestock is in second position. Indeed, many breeders are also enrolling in the program in order to increase their monthly or even annual income, but also with the aim of meeting national and international market standards and ensuring the country’s food and financial security. The program prioritizes agriculture and livestock as a lever for the country’s development. It should be noted that the Akoho nakà project is part of this branch, and whose registration still remains open on the Fihariana site, with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of each region, and with regional delegates.

2.40% of the files processed come from the craft sector. This sector has considerable potential and is positioned as one of the other driving force for economic development in Madagascar . Woodworking, weaving, embroidery, basketry, making “Vita Malagasy” jewelry display the great diversity of Malagasy crafts.
The development of Madagascar will be achieved by the emergence of all sectors. In 2020, the Fihariana program sets itself the goal of funding more than 10,000 projects in order to encourage even more entrepreneurs and young project leaders to be involved in the development of the country.
